June 12, 2021 ~ (4 candidates)
As a result of Rep. Troy Carter winning the district 2 special election to replace Cedric Richmond, his seat in the state senate had to be vacated. The June 12th election is a result of Rep. Troy Carters seat becoming vacant and will decide his replacement. Election results are listed below.

Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. The April 24th election is a result of the March Special election where neither Carter nor Peterson were able to clinch the 50%+ threshold required to win outright, resulting in a runoff election which took place on April 24, 2021.
