Candidate Endorsement Process
Each election, we strive to build a pathway of communication with each candidate vying to fill an elected position that impacts our members and community. Here we've detailed our community-centered process towards endorsing candidates.
Getting Candidates on the Record
Step #1
Our survey is the rockstar of the group! After weeks of brainstorming and input from members and the community, our team compiles a list of carefully thought-out questions that pertain to issues that directly impact our membership. Common themes include Criminal Justice reform, housing equity, and voting rights just to name a few.
Collecting Information
The Community Face to Face
Step #2
Candidate Forums
Our community forum is a prime opportunity for the candidates to engage face to face with our community membership and allies. The forum offers space for our members to better understand who each participating candidate is and more importantly, where each candidate stands on the issues that matter most.
An In-depth Conversation
Step #3
Candidate Interviews
The interview format offers the candidates an opportunity to sit down with the leadership of Voters Organized to Educate one on one and discuss in a recorded session a more in-depth analysis of the candidate's platform and proposed policies/ideas if elected.
A Grassroots Approach
Step #4
Community Endorsement
Upon completion of the candidate survey and participation in either a candidate’s forum or interview, the information is presented in its entirety, through digital profiles hosted here on our website VotersOrganized.org, to our membership, and over the period of the election cycle, we invite our community members to learn as much as they please about each candidate in the race.
