Voters Organized to Educate Endorses Calvin Duncan for Clerk of Court
Voters Organized to Educate is proud to endorse Calvin Duncan for Clerk of Criminal District Court here in New Orleans. We have known Calvin longer than any other candidate in the city. He is a New Orleans native with deep roots in the community. While serving as the primary incarcerated legal advocate (also known as a "jailhouse lawyer") at Angola, he became someone fellow inmates relied on completely, often with their lives.
Calvin transformed under extraordinary circumstances, emerging as a rare gem, and has maintained his unwavering commitment to serving his community. Since his release and exoneration, Calvin has earned multiple degrees, culminating in a law degree in 2023.
He founded the Light of Justice to assist others trapped in the system to overcome procedural barriers to post-conviction relief — including developing a system of getting court records for people like him who were denied the ability to prove their innocence.
He is a man of integrity who believes in the law, the Constitution, and democracy. He believes, like us, that elections are the cornerstone upon which our democracy rests and that every person deserves justice, no matter who they are. On October 11th, join us in supporting this incredible man for Clerk of Court.
