Voters Organized to Educate is recruiting a Regional Political Coordinator in the Baton Rouge area with experience leading political campaigns for elections, unions, progressive advocacy groups, or other campaigns. The ideal candidate is energized and prepared to engage with our community, cultivate and expand coalitions and build lasting political power in Baton Rouge and across the state of Louisiana.

Salary: $45,000 - USD $60,000 / year

Under the direction of the Director of Political Operations the Regional Political Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of Voters Organized campaigns throughout the electoral cycle(s). This may include:
Acting as the contact between the organization and local officials and membership throughout electoral cycles
Collaborating with ‘Political Operations Team’ to develop and implement plans to engage members in grassroots electoral and legislative political activities
Monitoring parishwide and regional political, electoral and policy related issues, working with local VOTE chapter and coalition partners regarding the development and coordination of strategic actions
As part of the ‘Political Operations Team’ assisting in the execution of strategic legislative and political campaigns (including working with external consultants) and participating in statewide planning on electoral activities
Building community, political, religious support and engagement for organizing projects and political or issue based campaigns. This may include:
Cultivating and maintaining organizational relationships within the surrounding faith community and community based organizations
Strengthening partnerships and strategic collaboration with existing coalition partners
Assisting in the development and execution of statewide mobilization campaigns
Assist in the year-round development and coordination of the Voters Organized Leadership Institute, building interest/engagement amongst chapter membership and the recruitment of candidates throughout the surrounding area
Assist in the documentation of the story and news of Voters Organized to Educate through photography, videography, and written literature
Create and assist the Communications team on presentations, flyers, graphics, website updates, newsletters, etc.)
Assist in the planning and coordination of candidate forums, town halls and debates as requested and directed
Increase public awareness of regional political candidates through the creation and dissemination of candidate surveys and background/political experience information, as needed

Three years or more of combined organizing and political experience with one or more of the following types of organizations: labor unions, progressive issue advocacy organizations, community organizations, political campaigns, and progressive elected officials.
Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, issue and legislative campaigns, and public policy analysis
Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with diverse individuals
Capacity to multitask and effectively manage timelines, prioritize multiple products, and meet demanding deadlines
Proficient computer literacy, and analytical and writing ability; with the knowledge of the usage of databases and spreadsheets
Experience with website development, and strategic creation of digital media; including newsletters, digital advocacy, and action alerts
Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of VOTE and Voters Organized to Educate, centering work on the people directly impacted by incarceration
Preferred applicants have direct experience with the criminal legal system, including incarceration
